Petroleum, Petrochemical and Gas Analysis by Gas Chromatography
XO ASSOCIATES LLC
Length: 2 Day Course
Date: 3/8 & 3/9 2017 – Wednesday & Thursday
Fee: $1100 ($1500 after 2/18/17)
Target Audience
Instrument operators and supervisors in petroleum, petrochemical, or production laboratories. Those not classically trained in GC analysis but responsible for performing the analyses.
Course Description
This course is designed to provide a sound foundation for those responsible for analyzing petroleum and petrochemical samples by gas chromatography. The fundamental processes involved with sample introduction, separation, detection and data analysis are presented in a manner that is understandable by those not trained in classical analytical chemistry. Typical ASTM methods of analysis will be used as a basis to explain differences between analysis of gas and liquid samples, calibration of compound responses, and data analysis and reporting approaches. Standard instrument configurations and methods for natural gas, refinery gas, permanent gas, simulated distillation, detailed hydrocarbon analysis, and others will be reviewed. Practical approaches for troubleshooting and tuning specific separations will be presented. After completing the course, attendees will be more competent, comfortable, and productive at operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting their gas chromatographs.
