Course Description: America’s number one fear is public speaking. This 1 day (or 1/2 day) workshop teaches participants how to defeat that fear by learning how to control stage fright, organize any type of scientific and technical presentation/remarks, how to open and close and many other practical tips by speaking clearer to minimize communication barriers.

TransPacific Communications’ Dottie Li (a former network television producer and keynote speaker) will enhance your understanding of message delivery and improve your ability to become better presenters both professionally and personally. Participants will learn to improve skills, and instill tools to overcome day-to-day communication obstacles to improve your ability to communicate effectively when presenting to an audience of any sort.

The first 1/2 day of this course will focus on the theory, skills and do’s and don’ts of making scientific and technical presentations. The second 1/2 of this course will be on coaching and critiquing each and every individual participant’s presentation on weighty topics and complex (or even tricky) scientific materials. They will have a unique opportunity to enhance their presentation from messaging, delivery, organization, to pacing, slides, content, body language, facial expressions, etc.

Delivering presentations effectively supports accurate communication of ideas to both internal and external stakeholders and serves as a dynamic component of the scientific and analytical process.

Target Audience: Scientists, researchers, reviewers, technicians, lab managers, STEM professionals who wish to have more clarity and power in their presentation. It will benefit scientists from college graduates to professionals in the STEM field.

About the Instructor

Dottie Li is a successful cross-cultural communication strategist, keynote speaker and coach, designing & providing media training and cross-cultural communication coaching. She has conducted numerous seminars, workshops & presentations on the importance of effective communication.
