Pittcon Cancels 2022 Conference Amid Rising Pandemic Concern
Pittcon Cancelled for the Safety of Participants, Staff, Volunteers
Pittsburgh, PA – January, 2022 – Pittcon, scheduled March 5-9, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, will not be held as an in-person event due to the continuous impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This decision did not come lightly; however, in the face of health and safety risks resulting from the ever-increasing communicability of emerging COVID-19 strains, this was a decision we had to make,” said Pittcon President Eli Absey. “As much as we all hoped to carry forward with an in-person Pittcon, we value the wellness of all our participants infinitely more.”
“Our participants deserve the best conference and exposition we can offer, and because of that, we want to be as forthright as possible,” stated Pittcon Marketing Manager Rocco Pacella. “We were experiencing a rising frequency of communication from our attendees, presenters, and exhibitors over the past two months. This was prompted almost exclusively by concerns surrounding an alleged increase in COVID-19 cases internationally.”
Pittcon’s management had to consider what such a high volume of communication represented: the safety of its participants. As a result, the organization decided not to hold its annual conference and exposition this year.
“The experience would not have matched what our exhibitors and attendees expect of our conference and exposition,” said Pittcon President Eli Absey.
The organization’s board of directors and staff appreciate the understanding of all Pittcon participants in what is very much still a time of uncertainty – though in that uncertainty, we find opportunity. Currently, alternate options for presenting Pittcon 2022 are being explored. More details on this will be released as soon as they are finalized.
