Jonathan W. DeVries, Ph. D. Joins Pittcon Program Resource Team
Pittsburgh, PA – July 11, 2016 – The Pittcon Long Range Committee is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Jonathan W. DeVries to the Program Resource Team. The purpose of this team is to collaborate with the Pittcon Program Committee to further develop the technical program. The Team, created in 2014, consists of experts in the fields of pharmaceutical science, nanotechnology, and food science.
Dr. DeVries, recently retired as senior technical manager of Medallion Laboratories, (division of General Mills Inc.), has more than 48 years of experience in quality related analytical work with 38+ years in nutrition and food safety analyses and research. His areas of expertise are wet chemistry, GC, HPLC, MS, ICP, IR and thermal analyses and has authored or co-authored more than 80 publications.
When asked to comment on his recent appointment, DeVries said, “Having attended a majority of the Pittcon conferences since 1978 when I was introduced by my boss to the premiere instrumentation show of the world, I feel honored to have this opportunity.”
Pittcon Special Projects Committee Chair Tom Conti, added, “We are very pleased to welcome Jonathan to our Program Resource Team. We expect that his over 37 years of experience in the areas of nutrition and food safety analyses and research including participation in the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC), the American Association of Cereal Chemists (AACC), Food Chemical Codex and USP’s Food Ingredients Expert Committee will provide valuable recommendations and guidance to incorporate trending topics relevant to food science in our technical program.”
