Program Highlights

To complement the Exposition, Employment Bureau, and Short Course offerings, the Technical Program is packed with a week's worth of Invited Symposia, Workshops, Organized Contributed Sessions, New Product Forums, and Contributed Oral and Poster sessions to provide the world's most comprehensive coverage of the latest developments in the traditional and emerging disciplines of analytical chemistry and applied spectroscopy.

The program is both broad in scope and well balanced. Major focus areas of the program include bioanalytical chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, nanotechnology, environmental chemistry, life science technologies, food analysis, applied molecular spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and chemical separations.

We are very excited to continue our partnership with the The American Chemical Society Division of Analytical Chemistry (ACS- DAC) for the third consecutive year. The ACS-DAC will be co-
programming with the Pittcon 2009 Technical Program with 6 Invited Symposia, 5 Organized Oral Sessions, and 1 Poster Session.

We are also pleased that we are able, for the first time, to offer a full-day symposium on nanotechnology organized by the Japanese Analytical Instrumentation Manufacturer's Association and the Japanese Society of Analytical Chemists, our counterparts in Japan. We are also pleased that the Society for Applied Spectroscopy will continue to have two symposia in our program.

In addition, a number of prestigious awards will be presented at Pittcon 2009 including the Pittcon Heritage Award, the Pittsburgh Analytical Chemistry Award, the Pittsburgh Spectroscopy Award, the Pittsburgh Conference Achievement Award, the Ralph N. Adams Award in Bioanalytical Chemistry, the ACS Analytical Chemistry Award for Young Investigators in Separation Science, the Charles N. Reilley Award, the Dal Nogare Award, the Williams-Wright Award, the Bomem-Michelson Award, and the Maurice F. Hassler Award.
