Message from the Technical Program Chair

Annette S. Wilson, Ph.D.
Pittcon 2018 Technical Program Chairman

Plans for the Pittcon 2018 Technical Program have already begun. As Chair of the 2018 Technical Program Committee, I invite you to start planning now for next year’s Conference in Orlando, Florida. We are currently accepting proposals for Symposia, Workshops, and Organized Contributed Sessions. All submissions are to be submitted though the Pittcon website and selecting “Submit New Proposal” under the “Proposals” tab. The deadline for submission is April 21, 2017.

In addition, during Conference Week, I will be available in the Program Office (Room W180) to discuss your ideas.

    Monday, 1:30-2:30 PM
    Wednesday, 3:00-4:00 PM
    Thursday, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM

I look forward to the opportunity to discuss your suggestions so please feel free to stop in.

The timeline for review of the submitted proposals is rather tight, so in order for the organizers to have enough time to arrange the sessions, the Program Committee will review all suggestions in early May 2017.

Proposals for symposia are being sought in all areas of analytical chemistry and applied spectroscopy. Focus topic areas include agriculture, bioanalytical chemistry, nanotechnology, environmental analysis, food analysis, forensics, education, energy research and pharmaceutical analysis. Pittcon has developed an extensive program in the life sciences and is seeking contributions in genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, neurochemistry, high throughput screening, and drug discovery.

We have been working for the past several years to coordinate the entire program – the Technical Program, Short Courses, and Conferee Networking – in order to give conferees their best educational and networking experience. Suggestions are always welcome; drop us a line if there is a way we can better serve you as a conferee.

The general Call for Papers will be sent out in June, and the deadline for contributed oral and poster abstracts will be in mid-August. As always, abstracts must be submitted electronically via the Pittcon website in order to be considered for the 2018 Technical Program. Please feel free to contact the Technical Program Committee if you have any comments or questions about the 2018 Technical Program. Our Technical Program Coordinator, Ms. Becky Hackley, can be reached by e-mail at program@pittcon.org; or by telephone at (800) 825-3221 or (412) 825-3220, Ext.219.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions and contributions to Pittcon 2018.

Sincerely,
Annette S. Wilson, Ph.D.
Pittcon 2018 Technical Program Chairman
