Pittcon Committee Supports Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort

Following the very successful production of Pittcon 2008, twenty two members of the Pittcon organizing committee and staff volunteered an additional day to help in the ongoing Hurricane Katrina rebuilding effort in the City of New Orleans. Coordinated through Project Homecoming, the crew helped to rebuild two homes in the greater New Orleans area.

Half of the Pittcon Committee volunteers put the finishing touches on this home in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward, one of 300 properties being rebuilt through Project Homecoming. The other volunteers were responsible for hanging drywall in a home that had just been gutted; the owners living in a trailer parked next to their home.
