About 20,000 scientists — some local, and others from around the world — will be in Philadelphia later this month for the 2013 Pittcon conference.
Ronald G. Bargiel, president of Pittcon (The Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy), said the event scheduled for March 17 to 21 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center marks the return of the 63-year-old annual conference for laboratory scientists to the Northeast.
Pittcon was last held in this part of the country when New York City played host in 1990.
